My Dance Drawings |

I used to take classes at the School of the Toronto Dance Theatre, studying Graham-based Modern Dance. During that time I drew these sketches from photographs attempting to capture only the energy and movement of the dance. I felt at the time that I could personally understand the 'body motivations', action and balance involved in these frozen moments of time. I hope that dancers and dance lovers can find universal memories of movement in this imagery, and enjoy the quotes from famous dancers and teachers. Keep moving! For larger versions,
