Lower Don Channel - It Can Be Done!

Building on a suggestion by Rollo Myers, engineering firm Marshall Macklin Monaghan did preliminary design work on narrowing the channel and renaturalising this most difficult area of the Don.

Richard Szegidewicz has brought this work dramatically to life using their calculations and Photoshop enhanced images. His work was sponsored by the Task Force to Bring Back the Don and the Waterfront Regeneration Trust.

At ground level it will feel absolutely fabulous!

Not just for cosmetic purposes, the channel naturalisation will create instream habitat and dramatically improve the capacity of this area to act as a migratory corridor.

For Homo Sapiens it will reduce the noise and ugliness of the DVP while providing a great stretch of river - wild in the city.
